Non-Essential Work #3

graphite and colored pencil on paper, 7.5 x 11 inches, quarantine 2020,

Social & physical distancing has me ruminating what our vision is does when we see a lover, a friend, what it looks like when we come into eye contact with the another human in the wild (at the grocery store). Since we are, in fact, interconnected and not just orbiting each other what happens to our senses when social contact is removed? Does it feel forbidden to give a hug? Is it an illusion to see a smile?
